Surprising Insights from Our National Survey

We interviewed 100 people from across Ireland about their wedding day and their thoughts on major sports events, particularly how they’d feel if their wedding coincided with a big game. Among those surveyed, 36% were aged 18-29, 34% were 30-44, and 26% were 45-60. 72% of the people we surveyed were women, the results might really surprise you!

Here’s What Guests Are Really Thinking

Come on, we’ve all noticed guests with their phones between their legs and you know the lads are thinking “If the bride can’t see your phone, are you really even watching the match at her wedding reception?”. If a wedding takes place over the weekend, it's almost guaranteed to overlap with some kind of sporting event. So, it’s no shock that many would consider shifting their wedding plans to accommodate a big match.

Why Irish Couples are Embracing Sports at Their Weddings

We found that 49% of Irish people would shift their wedding reception if there was a major sporting event. A significant 68% of people surveyed said they would be okay with broadcasting a major sporting event during their wedding reception. 82% of respondents would be more likely to include a sports event if it featured their own home county or team.

How Sports Are Impacting Irish Weddings

In fact, 61% believe that showing a major sporting event at their wedding would actually boost the overall vibe of the celebration - we think so too! While most couples are open to showing a sporting event during their wedding reception, the survey found that 34% would be offended if guests left to watch the game elsewhere. With so many sporting events this summer, could we see weddings being rescheduled to avoid a clash?

How would you feel if guests left the main reception area to watch a sporting event?

We booked with henparty.ie back on 2019 but when Covid hit everything shut down!! We were finally able to go in March 2022 and any deposits and payments made were easily transferred which was great. Headed to Galway and we were booked in the imperial hotel…
