Top Things To Consider When Planning The Hen Party Weekend

Have you been given the wonderful title of Bridesmaid? If so have you started thinking of the Hen Party? Well don’t worry or stress. We are here to help you with some Top Things To Consider When Planning The Hen Party Weekend.

Who to Invite?

Before you start, we warn you this can sometimes be a nightmare. There’s nothing worse than having one or two people that don’t really want to join in the fun. Sometimes this just brings the mood down and you don’t want the Bride to be annoyed or feel awkward for any reason on her Hen Party.

So, get the Bride-to-be to put together a list of people she would like to have on the hen weekend.

A good tip, is that if you think people will clash, then maybe split the day. Have the spa/pamper sessions during the day that the party prudes can go to and then the wild night can kick off after with the girls. You want to try avoiding having two hen dos.

Money / Budget

Money unfortunately can be a deal breaker for some people. Keep this in mind when planning the weekend Make sure you set a realistic budget while still keeping a special effort for the Bride-to-be’s Hen weekend.

It is sometimes a difficult balance and may effect who is invited and the location you choose but we are here to help. Our team know exactly how to work with you to make it as affordable as possible while making it a weekend not to forget.

Picking The Date

Planning the date takes a lot of work. Plan well in advance so that you can give yourself enough notice to get the weekend sorted. You want to give people enough time to get funds together and as much of the people you want to come along as possible.

When picking dates, stay clear of the wedding day by at least a week. Under no circumstances choose the night before the wedding to have the Hen Party (we have all seen ‘The Hangover’!).

This is the Bride-to-be’s big hen night so pick a date that suits as many as possible so that all her best friends can be there.

Location, Location, Location

Who wouldn’t love a Hen Party in a penthouse apartment in a buzzing European city. Or what about sunbathing in sunny Marbella? A Hen Party is all about the Bride-to-be spending quality time with her nearest and dearest. It can be varied from city breaks, local pub or even in someone’s house. Just make sure you know what your Bride-to-be is going to happy with doing.

Like everything, location is key. A great hen party destination can add something special to your weekend. If you are planning to go abroad give everyone enough time to check and renew their passports (we don’t want tears at the airport!).

It doesn’t even have to be abroad girls, some of the best hen party locations are right here on our doorstep such as Galway, Kilkenny, Carlingford and many more.

Communication

Communication is so important! When you are dealing with groups it can cause tension and conflict so keep everyone in the loop and aware of the plans.

A recommendation is to set up a WhatsApp group or Facebook messenger with everyone included. Might seem funny to say but you have no idea the number of rows that happen when big groups are drunk and get lost in a strange city.

Everyone starts panicking, stress kicks in and people snap at each other. A good idea is to send out an itinerary to everyone before they travel. And post it to the group chat too so people can find it easy.

Group Effort

My feelings are always too many people’s opinions causes friction. But you need to involve the group somehow. So, you have gotten the list of people that the Bride-to-be wants to invite, you have set up your WhatsApp or Facebook group. It’s time to start asking questions. Just don’t be so vague that it will result in conflicting ideas. Don’t ask ‘what are we doing?’.

The best thing to do is come up with a rough plan, post it to the group and get their thoughts on what they think. Ask the girls if there is any other ideas that can be added.
Just remember, no matter what you do, someone will disagree. You can’t please everyone so keep the Hen at the centre of your plans and go with what she will enjoy.

Don’t Go Overboard

You might all think you’re invincible but if you go overboard on the first night then you won’t enjoy the second night as much. If you are doing drinking activities during the day, make sure to pace yourself. You don’t want the bride, or anyone else to be legless by lunch and ruin the rest of their evening.

The same goes for organising activities girls. If the group are not used to high intensity activities or sports, you don’t want such high energy hen party activities that they need to lie down and disappear half way through the night. Nothing worse than half the tribe bailing out early!

Factor in some down time and don’t forget to keep hydrated with water (not just gin and tonics!)

Relax, Enjoy, Behave and Have Fun!

Most important of all…. Enjoy!

A hen party is all about having some fun, so make sure and do just that! We will help you organise a weekend your Bride-to-be won’t forget and take all your stress away. xx
