Welcome to Westport

Westport is a really pretty town in County Mayo and a big hit with the tourists.

Why Westport

Westport really is a very pretty town (multiple Tidy Towns Winner), stroll along the tree lined mall with its Georgian Buildings along the Carrowbeg River, walk up to the Clock and into the Octagon.

It’s a medium to smaller size henparty location with all the usual henparty elements – activities, pubs, restaurants and clubs.

If Golf is your thing there is an 18 hole championship course just outside Westport.

If you are a fan of the beach and a picnic over the weekend there are plenty of beautiful sandy shores to chose from - just head West, out beyond Louisburgh.

Westport prides itself on the quality of its restaurants and is well known for its seafood.

Activities are plentiful – paintball, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding but to name a few. There are also spa facilities in the town if you fancy pampering yourself.

If you're feeling in need of a spiritual lift, then go for a trek up Irelands holiest mountain - Croagh Patrick, only 7 miles from Westport.

If you fancy shopping head to Castlebar for the afternoon which isn’t too far away and has a better choice than Westport.

Accommodation options are varied and extensive because of Westport's tourist reputation with hotels and guest houses and there are also the cheaper options of camping or staying in a caravan park.

Westport is great if it is specifically self catering accommodation you are looking for as there are many self catering houses and apartments to chose from.

We thought this only happened in Cork but there's road bowling up here too on Sundays. Road Bowling is where 2 or more people (sorry ladies, normally men) throw a small steel ball along the public roads, whoever completes the course in the least amount of throws wins (tip - you can throw over the bends in the roads).

The pubs in Westport love henparties and will never turn them away. The craic is mighty but again be aware you won't be the only hen in town. You're in the West so there are plenty of pubs with trad music.

Nightclubs can get very busy on a Saturday night so make sure you get there on time to get in or not be squashed by the crowd.

Most restaurants are hen friendly and used to henparties in town. Try and book your meal as early as you can. Pubs, like the nightclubs fill up very quickly and if you are hitting the pubs after 10 you will have trouble getting in.

The pubs and clubs in Westport have a great reputation. It's hard to find a bad word about them for a henparty.
