Ask Claire; Post Hen Party Drama

This weeks query comes in from anonymous from Wexford! She just had her hen party last weekend and had a bit of drama and doesn't know what to do now.

"Hi Claire,I recently had my hen party in Dublin. Overall it was a fantastic weekend and couldn't thank all the ladies enough for the effort they put in. We did have one little hiccup though, one of the girls and I had a little falling out. She started saying things about my husband to be. Granted she meant them as a joke but to be honest I was finding them quite hurtful and not funny at all. Saying things like my ex was way hotter and I should have stuck with him! All my besties and me just really were not impressed. In order to avoid ruining the night we just kept our mouths shut and tried to avoid her. I don't know what to do, I haven't spoken to her since and don't particularly want to. She is a close family friend so I feel I can't uninvite her from the wedding even though I want to. Please HELP!"

Claire's Advice
Hi there. Thanks so much for getting in touch with us. You know this type of thing is more common then you may think, not that that is any excuse for it to happen in the first place. First things first you had a great hen weekend apart from that so try not to let the bad things over shaddow all of the good.

It is probably best to try to arrange a meet up with your friend and sort things out. There is nothing worse then having something like this weighing on your mind while your trying to plan a wedding! It's stressful enough without that added stress. Even if you just wanted to meet up and explain how you were upset by what she said and see what she says to you? People can have very different senses of humour but something like that seems just a little too far for us to even get our heads around. Once you speak to her then you can make an informed decision on whether to invite her to the wedding or not.

If you don't want to think about it too much before the big day there is always the option of waiting and try to sort things after. It really is what will help you have a clear mind before the big day most.

Remember that the wedding is yours and your future husbands big day. Don't aim to please anyone other than yourselves!
